A Christmas Tradition for over 100 Years

Christmas trees Wheaton

Wheaton Nurseries and Garden Center has been celebrating the Christmas season since 1895.  The fourth generation of Lederman's has bridged over three centuries.

Steve Lederman, owner remembers a brisk December morning riding the pick-up to the railroad spur track in Wheaton.  On the tracks was a boxcar with doors open wide.  His Uncle Art was already there in the car surrounded by thousands of balsam fir trees.  To this day Steve recalls being overcome by the incredible aroma... the holiday scent.
That was nearly fifty years ago.  Those fir trees were destined for the downtown Wheaton Location.  Scotch pines, the "new wave" Christmas tree, were at the Roosevelt yard.  Only the Lederman homestead at Liberty and Wheaton Avenue remains downtown today.  But the Roosevelt location has burgeoned.

Wreaths, garland and holly from Oregon abound.  There's roping in mixes of cedar and fir, balsam and white pine to deck the halls.  Choose from individual bundles of pine, fir, cedar, juniper, winterberry, red twig dogwood and more to dress your home with the colors of the season.  Oh, and as for those new wave Scotch Pines?  Well, the tide is out and Fraser Fir from the Smokey Mountains has replace them.

Natures incredible sights and scents are still a Christmas tradition at the Wheaton Nurseries.  Stop in and smell the past.
